CHILDREN'S TRIBUTE TO LOCAL FIREFIGHTERS ON SEPTEMBER 11TH

The anniversary of September 11, 2001, is a day for mourning the dead and celebrating the heroes. It's a day the American people commemorate in their own personalized ways.

Brooklyn Commune has come up with a way for children to pay tribute to firefighters--heroes that day and heroes every day: coloring fire department-related pictures. The pictures that your children color at Brooklyn Commune will be given to our neighborhood firefighters on Sunday, September 11th, at the restaurant, where they'll also be provided with a complementary lunch.

New York City's Fire Department was the department hit hardest of any group, with 343 members killed that day. Every one them was either rushing into the burning towers of the World Trade Center or trying to help people escape from the buildings.
