Preparation for installation of the two-way bike lane on McDonald Avenue has begun. The bike lane will run from 10th Avenue/20th Street to Fort Hamilton Parkway on the west side of McDonald Avenue, alongside Green-Wood Cemetery.
The Department of Transportation's detailed presentation on the bike lane is posted on its website at https://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/downloads/pdf/mcdonald-ave-10-ave-20-st-ft-hamilton-pkwy-oct2026.pdf.
The milling of McDonald Avenue began on the night of October 29th and continued on the night of October 30th. It will continue on the nights of November 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th and possibly longer; no work will be done on November 3rd because that's Election Day.
The weekly resurfacing schedule for all of Brooklyn is posted at https://nycstreets.net/PavementWorks/Project/WeeklyResurfacingSchedule/B. The job number for this resurfacing is B202607002.
The milling and paving schedule only displays one week at a time; the week of November 1st through November 7th is currently displayed.
Milling is the first phase of the resurfacing process. Milling is the grinding up of the existing asphalt.
The second phase is paving. About 80% of milled roads are paved within three weeks of the completion of milling. About 20% are paved within two weeks.
During the third phase, lane lines, stop lines, crosswalks, and symbols (arrows, for example) are painted onto the road. Bike lanes are installed during this phase.
