FOOD DRIVE TODAY FOR NEIGHBORHOOD FOOD PANTRY

 
From Scout Troop 187: 
Scouting America Troop 187B, Brooklyn is out in front of Foodtown on McDonald collecting for The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish pantry until 3 PM today. 

The food pantry is particular in need of things like salt, canned fruit, peanut butter, flour, sugar, mayo, ketchup, tea, and cooking oils.

Cash donations for grocery gift cards are also welcomed.

Community fridges are tools in the struggle for food justice and against food insecurity as well as an opportunity for neighbors to help neighbors. 

At the KWT Community Fridge, the free food fridge in Kensington, you can 

Take what you need.
  • The fridge is open 24/7 to all.

Leave what you can.
  • Fresh produce
  • Spices & condiments
  • Dairy (milk, eggs)
  • Canned goods
  • Vegetarian/Vegan/GF (gluten-free)
  • Low-sodium/low-sugar
  • Prepared meals (label with date & ingredients)
  • Foods you can eat without a fridge/stove/oven
 
Don't leave expired food. 
 
The free fridge is organized by Kensington-Windsor Terrace Mutual Aid. It was formerly located on E. 2nd Street.

From Holy Apostles:
The Youth at Holy Apostles are organizing a food drive to collect non-perishable items for families in need.
 
Tables will be set up at Foodtown of Kensington and John's Deli on Prospect Ave from 2-4 pm.
 
To donate, please bring the following items: water, juice, pasta, canned tomato sauce, canned vegetables & fruits, mac and cheese, hot/cold cereal, canned beans, rice, peanut butter, jelly and bread.

CANNED GOOD DRIVE AT THREE KENSINGTON BARS

Canned goods are being collected at three bars in Kensington through Wednesday, November 19th, thanks to organizer Courtney Hirsch. The food will be donated to Goke food pantry at Christ Apostolic Church on Cortelyou Road.

FOOD DRIVE FOR P.S. 230 FAMILIES

 
The P.S. 230 PTA is collecting non-perishable food for distribution to its school community. The annual food drive will run through Monday, November 24th. 
 
The suggested foods to donate are dried beans, chickpeas, lentils, rice, oats, barley, peanut butter, pasta, tomato sauce, shelf-stable milk, canned vegetables, and canned fruit.

"HELP US FEED LOCAL FAMILIES": FOOD DRIVE FOR A FOOD PANTRY IN WINDSOR TERRACE

 
Food Drive
Saturday, November 8th
Saturday, November 15th
Sunday, November 16th 
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Scout Troop 187B will hold a food drive on Saturday, November 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to help stock the food pantry at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church (IHM) with non-perishable food. The drop-off location for the food is Foodtown of Kensington.

Pack 187 and 187G will also hold a food drive to stock the IHM pantry. Theirs will be on Saturday, November 15th, and Sunday, November 16th, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and will also be at Foodtown.

The food pantry's most-needed items are 
  • cereal, peanut butter, jelly
  • canned fruits, soups
  • coffee, tea, crackers
  • rice, flour, sugar, grains 
  • shelf-stable milk  
  • grocery store gift cards.

Cash donations are also welcome and will be applied toward gift cards. They can be donated to the troop or directly to the food pantry. 

All donations support Immaculate Heart of Mary Church's food pantry as it supports our neighbors who are in need.

DONATE THANKSGIVING SIDE DISHES TO A NEIGHBORHOOD FOOD PANTRY

 At Foodtown of Kensington, you can purchase a bag of food for Thanksgiving side dishes that will be donated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary food pantry.

Tell a cashier that you want to buy a bag (or additional bags, if you like), and the cost ($10 per bag) will be added to your bill.

Each Buy-A-Bag contains a can of vegetables, a can of gravy, a bag of instant potatoes, a bag of rice, and a can of sweet potatoes.
