New Yorkers generally were blaming the shaking from today's earthquake on their cats, their dogs, their neighbors, construction crews, the subway, and anything else they could think of--except an earthquake. Here's another New Yorker's version of why things were shaking, from The New York Times:
In Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, Eric Vazquez, 35, had just parked his car and was waiting for his brother when he felt the tremors.
"I thought he was playing a trick on me and shaking my car," Mr. Vazquez said. "My car was literally rocking back and forth. I got out and walked around. Then I got in and started troubleshooting the car, revving up the engine."
"Then my brother called me and told me it was an earthquake," he added.
