HOW TO REPORT DAMAGE CAUSED BY HURRICANE/TROPICAL STORM IRENE

To report damage from Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene:
  • Call 311 with reports of downed trees, flooding, property damage, and other related requests.
    • In order for New York City to qualify for disaster relief assistance, the City must estimate the storm's total effect on residents and employees.  Reporting property damage in a timely fashion to 311 is essential to this process.
  • Property damage reports can also be filed at NYC.gov.
  • Reports of immediate public safety concerns such as live wires should be made to 911.
  • Response to reports of flooding, downed trees, and other conditions are being coordinated centrally via the Office of Emergency Management.  Immediate prioritization will be given to preserving public safety, restoring power and clearing major transportation arteries.
