NEW COFFEE SHOP ON FORT HAMILTON PARKWAY

These friendly guys are brothers Jim and Keith McKee, co-owners along with Keith's wife Lynn of a soon-to-be-open coffee shop on Fort Hamilton Parkway. Jim (on the left) lives in Windsor Terrace, where the brothers grew up. Keith (on the right) and Lynn live in Kensington.

They've named their coffee shop Steeplechase in honor of Steeplechase Park, the large theme park in Coney Island that closed in 1964.

When Steeplechase opens (by July 1st), the family will be serving coffee, tea, pastries, and bagels seven days a week. They'll offer counter service as well as indoor and outdoor seating.

Here are Jim and Keith building their business.

They've exposed the beautiful brick walls.

The location at 3013 Fort Hamilton Parkway between E. 2nd and E. 3rd streets is ideal for commuters on their way to and from the subway, people who want to sit and relax while they're waiting for their laundry to finish, folks who want a beverage and dessert to accompany a take-out meal from one of the nearby restaurants, and those who want to sit in the sun and sip and munch.
