Church Avenue Sessions writes about the groups:

Ben Holmes
Ben Holmes is a trumpet player and composer based in Brooklyn whose current projects include the Ben Holmes Quartet, Trio Blasphemy, and Tarras Band. His studies have included jazz and classical performance and composition as well as folk music from Eastern Europe.

Holmes' two albums as a leader have garnered significant critical praise, including four-star reviews for both records in DownBeat magazine.

Will Holshouser Trio
Accordionist Will Holshouser began playing the instrument in the late 1980s when a friend gave him a colorful, musty old squeezebox as a surprise. He has since performed all over the world as an accordionist, improviser, and composer, exploring the areas between jazz, folk, and experimental music.

Will's own trio, featuring trumpeter Ron Horton and bassist Dave Phillips, has been together for nearly twenty years and has made three CDs for the Portuguese label Clean Feed. One album was recorded live in Faro, Portugal, and another was a collaboration with the late, great pianist Bernardo Sassetti.
