RECYCLE YOUR FALL LEAVES AT THE EAST FOURTH STREET COMMUNITY GARDEN

Recycle your fall leaves
at the East Fourth Street Community Garden.

Because of budget cuts, the Sanitation Department's leaf composting collection program is suspended again this year. The leaves that the department collects at curbside will be treated as regular household trash. But this precious resource doesn't have to be wasted: the leaves can be kept out of landfills and recycled to create compost instead.

The East Fourth Street Community Garden is working with Project LeafDrop of NYCLeaves to recycle the leaves to improve the soil in local greening projects. For more information, see http://nycleaves.org.

Put your leaves in clear plastic bags or brown paper bags and bring them to the Garden. Bring leaves from residences only, and please don't bring branches, twigs, or trash.
