Felony crime dropped 28.58% in the 66 Precinct according to its current CompStat report (#40) for Monday, Oct 1, through Sunday, October 7.
During that first week in October,
total felony incidents fell to 25 compared to 35 for the same week in 2011 (wtd, or week to date). The 28-day felony
figure also dropped by 7.48% compared to the 28-day total for the same period
in 2011.
Indeed all categories in the wtd figures fell, among them grand
larceny, which includes cell-phone and credit-card rip offs. Nonetheless while burglary dropped in early
October (CompStat #40), burglary was up 6.7% overall for 2012 compared to 2011
Year to Date (ytd), and was up 15
% in the past 28 days, again in comparison to last year’s figures for the same
period.
Both the misdemeanor assault and
petit larceny have also increased for 2012: up 6% for assault and 5.3% for
petit larceny compared to 2011 ytd.
On the other hand, the week before
(#39 for Sept 24–30) total felonies were up 11.54%: from 26 felonies in 2011 to
29 in 2012 wtd. Again burglary was up 100%—from 3 to 6, and
grand larceny jumped to 85.7%, from 7 to 13 wtd. And for the first time in a long time, there
was a rape in the 66.
