GYRO PLACE'S HEALTH VIOLATIONS DOWN TO ALMOST ZERO

The Department of Health (DOH) found nine sanitary violations worth a total of sixty-five violation points at Gyro Place (473 McDonald Avenue, below Church Avenue) during an April 19th inspection. Five of the nine sanitary violations found during the initial operational pre-permit inspection were categorized as critical. A Notice of Violation was issued, and DOH gave Gyro Place a rating of "Grade Pending" and ordered the restaurant closed.

A re-inspection on April 30th showed that the restaurant had reduced the number of sanitary violations from nine to one, worth just three violation points:
"Non-food contact surface improperly constructed. Unacceptable material used. Non-food contact surface or equipment improperly maintained and/or not properly sealed, raised, spaced or movable to allow accessibility for cleaning on all sides, above and underneath the unit."
Inspection information for every restaurant is available on the DOH website.
