Colin Campbell speculated in Politicker four days ago that our New York City Councilmember, Brad Lander (D-Kensington, Windsor Terrace), might be interested in running for the office of Brooklyn Borough President next year. Yesterday, Colin asked Brad about his intentions, and Brad "did not deny his interest."

Brad is in his first of two possible terms on the City Council (councilmembers are limited to two four-year terms). The term began in January 2010.

Current Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz has held that office since 2002 and can't run again because of term limits.

Brad represents Cobble Hill, Carroll Gardens, Park Slope, Borough Park, Windsor Terrace, and Kensington.
