NEIGHBORHOOD EVENTS, JANUARY 28TH TO FEBRUARY 2ND

These events will take place in the neighborhood during January 28th to February 2nd:

Friday, January 28th
  • Friday Night Knits: Enjoy an evening of knitting and snacks with fellow knitters. 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Oak and The Iris Cafe, 2826 Fort Hamilton Parkway, corner of E. 4th Street. To confirm that the event will be taking place, call Oak and Iris at (718) 208-7713. Free.
  • Cooking Class: Healthy Vegetarian South Indian Cuisine. Hands-on cooking lessons. Learn how to cook Masala Dosa with Coconut Chutney, Eggplant Masala Curry, and Chickpea and Bell Pepper Poriyal. 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Mukti's Kitchen, Beverley Road, near E. 9th Street.   • Coffee Tasting. 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A tasting event for Brewklyn Grind Coffee & Tea Co. Brooklyn Commune, 601 Greenwood Avenue, at the corner of Prospect Avenue. Free.
Sunday, January 30th
  • Artist Talk: Inspired by Green-Wood: A Visit with Artist Saul Chernick. 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Historic Chapel at Green-Wood Cemetery, 500 25th Street at 5th Avenue. Free.
  • Open House at Immaculate Heart of Mary School. 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. or whenever the tours are finished. Free. After the Open House, the school will hold a Book Fair. 3002 Fort Hamilton Parkway, between E.2nd and E. 3rd streets.

  • Youth and Crime Prevention Forum. Forum for parents of elementary and high school-aged children on keeping your children safe. 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. P.S. 230, 1 Albemarle Road, between McDonald Avenue and Dahill Road.
