FIVE minutes before the afternoon’s first class, the waiting room, chilly from the outside air as the storefront’s glass door swung open and shut, hummed with activity and talk. Ms. King said working with children, watching them progress and forming strong relationships with their families has been the most satisfying part of her career.
"Life can be chaotic for kids in the city,” Ms. King said. “It’s overcrowded; it’s fast. When you get to the dance class, when you get to the barre, it’s order, and everything else is gone."
