A DOG RUN IN KENSINGTON--VOTE FOR IT!

Guest post by
Sal Garro, President
Kensington Dog Run Association

The Kensington Dog Run Association will be meeting this Thursday, March 10th, to discuss our efforts to get out the vote for Participatory Budgeting (PBNYC). All are welcome! We will meet in the Rec Room at 346 Coney Island Avenue, between Caton Place and Kermit Place, at 7:30 p.m.

There has been immense interest in the Kensington Dog Run Association's proposed dog run at the Prospect Park Parade Ground (on Coney Island Avenue, between Caton Place and Kermit Place). We have made a lot of progress, and now we are asking the members of our community to show their support by going out and voting for our dog run proposal at Participatory Budgeting (PBNYC) this year in the City Council's District 39 (Councilmember Brad Lander) and District 40 (Councilmember Mathieu Eugene).

Support is strong among neighbors, who have backed the dog run proposal with nearly 600 petition signatures to date. The Kensington Dog Run Association has rallied the support of our local leaders; they have agreed to share funding responsibilities for the dog run. Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, Councilmember Mathieu Eugene of District 40, and Councilmember Brad Lander of District 39 are all currently engaged in making our proposed project a reality by sharing funding responsibilities.

Participatory Budgeting voting will take place from March 26 through April 3, 2016. Any resident of of our district who is age 14 or older can take part in the process. All you need in order to vote is an ID, a utility bill, or some other document that states your name and address. Voting locations and more information are available on our website at www.kensingtondogrun.com.

We thank the community for its continued support. Thank you for spreading the word to our neighbors to get out the vote!
Cheers,
Sal Garro, President
Kensington Dog Run Association
