DON'T GO TO KORNER PIZZA ON A MONDAY

Don't go to Korner Pizza on a Monday because it's now closed on that day. But you can still go on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays!

Korner Pizza, a Kensington institution, is sixty years old. It deserves to put its feet up and take a rest once a week and then reopen feeling refreshed--and ready to serve its neighbors with a smile.

ROCKY'S PIZZERIA IS NAMED TO THE HALL OF FAME

Eater NY agrees with the locals that Kensington has got some fine pizza.

Eater NY's senior critic, Robert Sietsema, named Korner Pizza as one of his ten favorite New York City pizzerias in July. He inducted Korner and the other nine pizzerias into the Eater NY Neighborhood Pizzeria Hall of Fame.

This month, he chose ten more favorites to induct, and Rocky's Pizzeria is one of them.

At Korner, "The regular cheese slice is perfection itself." And at Rocky's, "The plain cheese slice is great, but why not go for the more spectacular ziti slice."

For a pizzeria to qualify for the Hall of Fame, "It must sell pizza by the slice; cook its pies in stacked gas ovens that burn at around 550 degrees or below; and, in general, not be part of a chain with multiple outlets."

Korner is at 226 Church Ave., at the corner of E. 3rd Street. Rocky's is at 474 Coney Island Avenue, at the corner of Church Ave.

BRAND NEW BENCHES FOR CHURCH AVENUE

New outdoor seating is coming to Church Avenue!

To protect the trees on Church Avenue, especially the young ones that were planted recently, neighborhood residents will be working together to build wood benches. Each bench will surround a tree on three sides--all but the curb side, so car doors can be opened without getting dinged.

If you enjoy building or if you'd like to learn how, please join your neighbors as we GRAB A WRENCH, BUILD A BENCH!

This is what the benches will look like....

Refreshments and snacks will be available for everyone, including pizza donated by Korner Pizza and Beverley Pizza. That should help keep your strength up and put smiles on your faces!

Meet at the green triangle pocket park at Church Avenue and 35th Street, west of Dahill Road.
