A follow-up message to bicycle riders from Deputy Inspector John Sprague, 66th Precinct commander:
To clarify the previous email, the bicycle enforcement initiative is in response to an increase in bicycle traffic and the rise in accidents associated with them. It is particularly dangerous when bicyclists do not abide by traffic regulations. As a result, serious injury to pedestrians may occur, particularly with bicyclists on the sidewalk. The 66th Precinct is looking forward to a safe and secure 2011 with your cooperation.
