Community Board 12 (representing Kensington, Borough Park, and Midwood) will hold its monthly public meeting tonight, Tuesday, March 26th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The board's monthly meetings are open to the public.

Unfortunately, CB 12 doesn't e-mail us the agenda until the day of the meeting, so here it is now. The e-mail opens with the salutation "Dear Board Members, Elected Officials, & Interested Parties."

70th Precinct Community Council Meeting

CRAFT FAIR AND FLEA MARKET PLANNED

Spring Craft Fair and Flea Market

Sunday, May 5th, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Support local artists, craftspeople, and rummage sellers by shopping at Flatbush Jewish Center’s Spring Craft Fair and Flea Market. The event will take place on Sunday, May 5th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.


Shop for handmade jewelry, pottery, soaps, lotions, candles, and more from local craftspeople as well as gently-used clothing, shoes, appliances, artwork, and more.

The Center is looking for craftspeople and rummage sellers to sell their wares at the combination craft fair and flea market. A 10x10 vendor table costs $50, an 8x8 costs $40, and each chair costs $1.

The rummage sale will take place in the Center's large outdoor space and the craft fair will be inside. But if there's rain that day, the vendors will be on both the ground floor and the 2nd floor.

FOUR DOGS AND A CAT BADLY NEED DENTAL SURGERY

Critical Care Program: Funds for Dental Surgeries Needed What We Need: We rescued several dogs and cats who are in need of dental surgeries due to severe dental disease. Dental surgery is expensive and with several animals needing it at the same time the costs have become overwhelming.  How You Can Help: We are asking our friends to please make a donation today to help cover the cost of these surgeries. No donation is too small so please give whatever you can and share our appeal for help. We'd like to introduce the precious animals your donation will directly benefit.. Bambi: Unwanted by her previous owner she was given away to a stranger at a dog park. The Good Samaritan took Bambi and brought her to us. This tiny 10+ year old sweetheart was emaciated due to a parasitic infection, which we treated. Most of her teeth are missing but the ones that remain are rotted and need to be removed so Bambi can continue to regain her health and be adopted into a loving forever home. Please help Bambi get the surgery she needs! TeeTee and Dolce: TeeTee and Dolce came to us after their owner was, sadly, committed to a mental hospital. Family members were unable to take them in. Unfortunately it was apparent that they weren't receiving proper care for quite some time. TeeTee and Dolce were in rough shape when they first arrived and both are in need of dental surgery to remove their rotted teeth. They are so friendly and sweet and we would love to see them adopted instead of waiting for surgery at the shelter. Will you help us make it happen? Angel: Angel will celebrate her 12th birthday this year and we want her to be SCAR Grad when she does. She was transferred to us from Animal Care Centers of NYC after being found as a stray. Angel's teeth are in very bad shape and she will most likely need all of them removed. Please help us make Angel's next birthday her best one yet! Bella: Bella is our 2-year-old Domestic Longhair mix. Bella originally came to us skinny, feral, and had to have one eye removed because it was so badly infected. Bella has been making a lot of progress since being with us but sadly she is suffering from stomatitis and she needs to have all her teeth removed. She has already been through so much and we really want to see her thrive in a loving home. Children's Programs
Starting on Tuesday, April 2nd, two children's programs formerly offered at Windsor Terrace Library will be resuscitated at other locations while the library is being renovated.

"Toddler Time with Miss Cindy" will meet on Tuesdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.--the same day and time as when it met at the library--at Church of the Holy Apostles, 612 Greenwood Avenue, Windsor Terrace. Enter the church through the side entrance. Strollers must be left outside in the gated area.

"Babies & Books" will meet on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.--the same day and time as when it met at the library--at JCC Brooklyn Windsor Terrace, 1224 Prospect Avenue, Windsor Terrace.

Holds at the Bookmobile
Residents can check materials out, return them, and get a library card on the bookmobile when it's parked in front of the library on Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. 

Books, DVDs, and other materials that you have placed a hold on can be picked up from the bookmobile. To place a hold online, select "Windsor Terrace Bookmobile" as your pick-up location. Under normal circumstances, holds can't be placed or picked up at any of Brooklyn Public Library's bookmobiles. 

SEX EDUCATION FOR ELEMENTARY-AGE CHILDREN: A TALK OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Rachel Lotus will present "The Talk: Sex Ed 2.0" tomorrow (Thursday, March 21st) at 7:00 p.m. This conversation about bodies, boundaries, consent, gender, identity, and more is open to the public (adults only).

The Talk
"While many of us want to encourage conversations with our children about bodies, boundaries, consent, gender, identity, and beyond, we aren't always sure what to say, how to say it, or when  to begin.

In this workshop for parents of elementary-age children, progressive sexuality educator Rachel Lotus will discuss all of this and more. Attendees will leave equipped with actionable steps, practical help with language, and developmentally appropriate resources."

Courtesy of the P.S. 130 PTA, Camp Olympia will provide childcare for school-age children.

A donation of $5 is suggested; nobody will be turned away, regardless of ability to pay.

Do you have questions about how the New York Health Act (Assembly Bill A4738A)  will affect your wallet?  Do you have questions about how this bill will affect the New York state budget?

The bill

"Establishes the New York Health program, a comprehensive system of access to health insurance for New York state residents; establishes the New York Health Trust Fund which would hold monies from a variety of sources to be used solely to finance the plan; enacts provisions relating to financing of New York Health, including a payroll assessment, similar to the Medicare tax; provides for collective negotiations by health care providers with New York Health."

 
New York Senate District 17 for Progress (NYSD 17 for Progress) and Pakistani American Youth Society (PAYS) will host a thirty-minute presentation on the "economics" of the act, followed by a thirty-minute Q&A session to answer your questions.

Leonard Rodberg, Ph.D., will give the presentation. He is Emeritus Professor of Urban Studies at Queens College and co-director of Community Studies of New York, Inc.

Supply Drive for Sean Casey Animal Rescue

To take proper care of the animals at Sean Casey Animal Rescue as well as the rescue itself, particular supplies are necessary. Because some of those items are currently running low, Girl Scout Troop 2700 has decided to hold a supply drive in front of Foodtown of Kensington.

The supplies needed are

• paper towels,
• dish soap,
• Brillo,
• latex gloves (all sizes),
• bleach (regular unscented),
• pillowcases,
• sheets,
• blankets,
• towels,
• newspapers,
• canned dog food (any brand),
• canned cat food (any brand), and
• hard chew toys.

Bring the items to the supply drive on Saturday, March 16th, between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. You can purchase them anyplace you want to, including at Foodtown of Kensington.

66th Precinct Community Council Monthly Public Meeting
Thursday, March 28th, 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 

The public can report crimes and other policing matters in Kensington, Borough Park, and Midwood at the upcoming 66th Precinct Community Council meeting.

The 66th Precinct's commanding officer, Captain David Wall, will update residents on recent crimes in those neighborhoods, but the input of people who live within the boundaries of the precinct is also essential.

At the meeting, the public can learn about the various programs available to the community through the precinct.

The meeting will be held on Thursday, March 28th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. It's free, and it's open to the public.

Boundaries of the 66th Precinct:

The purpose of the 66th Precinct Community Council is to provide the critical interface between citizens and police through regular monthly meetings. Meetings are normally held on the third Thursday of the month, from September through June. The Community Council does not meet in July or August.

The noose was drawn in chalk on a wall in the Fort Hamilton Parkway F/G subway station on the Manhattan-bound side. After the NYPD investigated, the MTA painted over the drawing.
