City of Forest Day Celebration 2026
Saturday, October 3rd
City of Forest Day is a day of activities held every year across New York City to raise awareness of the importance of our city's urban forest and the role that we play in taking care of beings that please our eyes, supply our oxygen, and shelter birds and other animals.
Forest for All NYC will present events citywide in partnership with the Parks and Open Space Partners coalition and the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation.
Three City of Forest Day events will take place in or near Kensington and Windsor Terrace:
Deez Treez Lab at Nitehawk Cinema (15 Prospect Park Southwest)
11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
"Get ready to dive into nature with Deez Treez Lab, ecologists, educators, and other native New Yorkers at the City of Forest Day! Join us in person for a day filled with green vibes, fresh air, and cool forest fun. Whether you’re a tree hugger or just looking to chill outdoors, this is the place to be."

10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
"We will be caring for and celebrating trees, as well as weeding and planting blubs. Come get your hands dirty or just stop by! This is a family friendly event organized by neighbors."

"Come work with NYC Parks Stewardship to care for local street trees! Volunteers will learn how to aerate, cultivate, mulch, and identify street trees. They will also learn about the important roles street trees play in New York City."
