NON-PERISHABLE FOOD NEEDED FOR THE KWT TINY PURPLE PANTRY

To help relieve food insecurity and hunger in the neighborhood, Kensington-Windsor Terrace Mutual Aid (KWTMA) has set up the KWT Tiny Purple Pantry for non-perishable food. Donate food items if you can or take whatever donated items you need so that you can enjoy adequate and nutritious meals.

The outdoor pantry is on E. 4th Street in Windsor Terrace, just south of Fort Hamilton Parkway, alongside Jaya Yoga East.

Non-perishable food has a long shelf life and doesn't have to be refrigerated before it's opened. Some examples of food to donate are
  • fish (canned),
  • poultry (canned),
  • beans (canned and dried),
  • soup (canned and packaged),
  • vegetables (canned and dried),
  • fruit (canned and dried),
  • pasta, rice, and other grains,
  • dried herbs and spices,
  • condiments,
  • nuts and seeds,
  • peanut butter and other nut butters,
  • jelly, jam, preserves, honey,
  • fruit juice (canned and in cardboard),
  • shelf-stable milk,
  • non-dairy milk,
  • coffee,
  • tea,
  • dry cereal,
  • crackers, and
  • granola bars,
  • protein bars.

In addition to the pantry, KWTMA has set up an outdoor KWT Community Fridge. It's for perishable food, and it operates on the same philosophy of "Give what you can; take what you need." The fridge is located at 137 E. 2nd Street, off Fort Hamilton Parkway, next to the laundromat.
