STOP AAPI (ASIAN AMERICAN/PACIFIC ISLANDER) HATE IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND BEYOND

The Asian Affairs Committee and the Public Safety Committee of Community Board 7, which covers Windsor Terrace and Sunset Park, are joining forces to work on the pressing issue of hate crimes against Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders (AAPI).

Anti-AAPI hate crimes, particularly against women and the elderly, have been continually increasing since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic as innocent people are wrongly blamed for the worldwide outbreak of the devastating and sometimes deadly virus.

The joint committee meeting will be open to the public, just as all meetings of every committee of every community board are.

For the past year, all CB 7 board meetings and committee meetings have been held virtually, with access via computers, cell phones, and landline phones.

In addition to being able to attend meetings, people who aren't board members are welcome to become members of any committee of any community board.

If you're interested in joining either of these two committees or any other CB 7 committee, write to the board office at bk07@cb.nyc.gov.

A calendar of all CB 7 board and committee meetings is posted at https://www1.nyc.gov/site/brooklyncb7/calendar/calendar.page.

Additional ways to support the AAPI community at this critical time are posted under "Act Now" on the Stop AAPI Hate website.
