ELECTRONICS AND BICYCLES ETCHED FOR FREE TO PREVENT THEFT

                               Free Bicycle and Electronics Etching
                    Friday, October 7th, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Get your bicycle and electronics etched for free
through Operation Identification, one of the New York City Police Department's crime prevention programs.

Officers from the 72nd Precinct will do the etching at Holy Name Church on Friday, October 7th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Operation Identification involves (1) engraving an identifiable serial number with the letters "N.Y.C." on all of the portable valuables that you bring with you and (2) registering that serial number and the owner's name and address with the police department.

Bring your cell phones, tablets, MP3 players, computers, laptop video game systems, GPS systems, stereo equipment, fax machines, copiers, etc. for etching.

The benefits of participation in Operation Identification are
  • Special New York City Police Department decals are issued to affix to your windows. They alert potential burglars that the property in your home has been registered with Operation I.D.
  • Marked property is more difficult for a burglar to sell.
  • Stolen property that's found in the possession of a burglar can easily be traced to its rightful owner.
  • Property that is found can easily be identified and returned to its rightful owner.
