A MOBILE APP FOR PROSPECT PARK

The first mobile app for Prospect Park has been launched. It's for iPhone, but it will be available for Android soon. The Prospect Park Alliance created the app to help parkgoers navigate the park more easily, discover its many attractions, and expand their knowledge of the park's history, wildlife, and nature.

The app is focused on an interactive map designed to help parkgoers enjoy the park’s 585 acres. A number of categories of destinations are featured, such as family-friendly fun, historic monuments and sites, recreation, natural areas, and places to enjoy with dogs.

In addition, the park can be grouped into regions. An activity log tracks how much of the park you've explored and the distance you've covered.

A "Learn + Explore" section includes fun, interactive games and challenges that test your knowledge of park history, nature and trivia, as well as exploration of the park. Earn badges and prizes as you complete challenges and learn more about the park.

The app also keeps you up-to-date on all the latest park news and events, how to get involved as a member or volunteer with the Prospect Park Alliance, and general park information, including hours, directions, event venues, and permits.

The Prospect Park app is available in the iTunes store to download for free. Its size is 46.9 MB. The app requires iOS 8.0 or later. It's compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
