On the first day of summer last year, Make Music New York organized one of the biggest musical
events in New York City's history: over 1,350 free outdoor concerts in an
incredible array of musical genres and locations.
Thousands of musicians entertained New Yorkers on sidewalks, in streets, in parks, and in gardens throughout all five boroughs in "an eleven-hour escapade of musical creativity" (The New Yorker).
