Seventeen free fruit trees are still available at Kensington's Compost for Brooklyn after yesterday's tree giveaway. To qualify for a free tree, you must agree to
- plant the tree in one of the five boroughs,
- plant the tree in the ground of your yard and not along streets, in city parks, in containers, or on terraces, balconies or roofs, and
- keep the tree properly watered and maintained.
When you pick up the tree, you'll also be given a planting and care guide.
Trees will be available for drop-ins on a first-come, first-served basis during open hours: Thursdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and alternating Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (next open Saturday: April 25th).
The giveaway is through New York Restoration Project (NYRP) as part of the MillionTreesNYC initiative.
