66th Precinct Community Outreach Day
Monday, October 14th, 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The 66th Precinct is coming to Kensington to meet the people it protects and serves. Talk with the precinct's Commanding Officer--Deputy Inspector Michael Deddo--and other precinct personnel. Take this opportunity to question, comment, complain, and compliment. What's on your mind?
Are you pleased with the way the neighborhood is policed? Would you like to have a "beat cop" walking the streets again?
Are you concerned that cell phones and other electronics are being grabbed out of people's hands? Have you been hearing from neighbors about drug dealers? Do you see gang graffiti on buildings? Are speeding cars and careless drivers putting you at risk?
Do the police arrive quickly enough when you call them and report a crime? Should the precinct allow the media to publish a crime blotter, like other precincts do? This is what the crime reports on this blog looked like when the precinct used to provide us with information:
- Robbery: On August 22nd at 9:30 p.m., four men approached the victims at the corner of Avenue C and E. 5th Street. One criminal punched the first victim in the ear and took his cellphone and then ripped the cellphone out of the second victim's hand, ripping her earring off in the process and causing her injury. One criminal was arrested after a canvass was conducted.
- Burglary: On June 24th at 11:00 a.m., an unknown perpetrator entered 330 Ocean Parkway (between Beverley Road and Avenue C) through a rear window fire escape and removed electronics and jewelry from an apartment. Nobody was arrested.
- Robbery: December 3rd, 7:30 p.m., at the corner of E. 5th Street and Beverley Road. A 19-year-old man was pushed to the ground, kicked, and punched in the face by four men in their 20s. The perpetrators took his phone and his wallet. All four were arrested.
