The Therapy and Learning Center will have to find a new executive director, now that executive director Silvia Kuper has resigned upon orders by New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman. She also had to resign from the school's board.
Ms. Kuper, who was also the owner, used school funds from 2007 to 2012 to pay for personal expenses, such as car lease payments and online counseling services that were reportedly psychic services.
In a settlement she reached with Mr. Schneiderman, Ms. Kuper will reimburse the school $240,000. Part of that--$20,000--will cover the cost of the attorney general's investigation. She won't be allowed to ever serve as the director or an officer of a not-for-profit organization in New York.
The pre-school is located at 1723 8th Avenue, at17th Street.
