MEDITERRANEAN TASTES ON THE KWT BORDER

Mediterranean food made its debut on Fort Hamilton Parkway yesterday. Welcome to the neighborhood, Hummus Garden!

None of the dishes are made with meat. The majority are made without animal products, but some dishes have an egg or two (intact, not mixed with other ingredients) in them. One dessert (kanafe) is made with goat cheese. A fish special may occasionally be prepared.

Hummus Garden serves lunch and dinner. Eat in, take out, or have it catered for an occasion--or a non-occasion. The food is prepared fresh daily, and the baker is on the premises.

Kensington residents Avi and Julie Atiae own and operate Hummus Garden. They've decorated the restaurant with a Moroccan motif. Wooden tables and chairs are in the front and straight ahead, while the area on the right is filled with big, comfortable, cushioned seats, throw pillows, and drapes.
