Macy's Fishing Clinics at Prospect Park
Saturdays and Sundays in July and August
starting today, July 7th
1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
The
free, hands-on Macy's Fishing Clinics offer quality
fishing instruction to children as well as an introduction to aquatic ecology. Children ages 15 and under,
accompanied by a parent or guardian, will learn about recreational
fishing, fishing safety, and fish-friendly techniques.
Meet at the Wellhouse on Wellhouse Drive. Enter the park at the Vanderbilt Street entrance, cross the Park Drive, and walk on Wellhouse Drive toward the peninsula. Look for the orange Pop-Up Audubon tent along the lakeshore. Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Call (718) 287-3400, ext. 303, for details. All fishing at Prospect Park is "catch and release" only.
Once a fish is caught, it must be removed from the hook and returned
immediately to the water. The use of barbed hooks is prohibited by New
York State Law. For detailed fishing guidelines, visit Prospect Park Alliance's website.
