IN SEARCH OF WEED-PULLERS

Kensington's Compost for Brooklyn (C4B) needs volunteers to pull up weeds this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. With the weeds gone, space will be available for additional native plants. If you can volunteer for this, send an e-mail to volunteer [at] compostforbrooklyn [dot] org.

Wear old clothes that you don't care about getting dirty. Wear sturdy shoes. So that your hands don't get dirty, C4B will provide you with gloves. Bring a lot of water to drink. Freeze it to make it stay cold longer.

Open Hours
During the summer, C4B is open every second and fourth Saturday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The open Saturdays through the end of August are July 13th and 27th and August 10th and 24th. C4B is also open every Thursday afternoon, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

What to Compost
Bring only household food scraps for composting. No dairy, meat, bones, woody material, lawn clippings, coconut shells, or "compostable" dinnerware. The compost will be used to nourish neighborhood curbside tree beds.
