BISHOP FORD WILL SHARE ITS SPACE WITH A CHARTER SCHOOL

A charter school that was housed in Sunset Park High School will be moving into Bishop Ford Central Catholic High School in September.

Brooklyn Prospect Charter School, a college-preparatory public school currently serving sixth and seventh grade students, will lease classrooms in unused wings in Bishop Ford until its permanent facility in Gowanus is ready to be occupied. Construction of that building has not begun; in fact, an occupant of the building that is supposed to be torn down so the school can build in that spot is suing to remain in the building. That will make construction of a new building by the December 2012 target date difficult.
