PRIMAVERA FEST: A CELEBRATION OF SPRING

From One World Project:
Dear families,

Please join us at One World Project on Friday, May 9, from 5-6:30pm for our Primavera Fest at 44 Seeley Street: an opportunity to join students, families, and teachers in a celebration of spring! This event is open to OWP families as well as the broader community, so please feel free to invite your friends and neighbors too :)

A connection with the environment is a core value throughout all our classrooms and camps, and each changing season represents an opportunity to explore and express gratitude for all that nature has to offer.

We'll also take this opportunity to inaugurate our brand new Comunidad Garden at 44 Seeley Street! This is a space that we hope can serve as a new chance for connection and growth throughout the summer, and the coming years as well.

As it looks like the weather has finally turned, we'll be working together in the garden, making art, and enjoying spring books with one another.

We'll serve food and drinks at the event, and are asking for a suggested donation of $30 per family at the event via Venmo. However as always, we ask that you give only what makes sense to you -- more if you are able, and less if you are not.

Please do us a favor and RSVP here so that we have a sense of how many families will be joining us.

Feel free to reach out to me with any questions, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Gracias,
Leo

SEEDS AND CHEFS SPRING BREAK CAMP AT ONE WORLD PROJECT

From One World Project:
Spring Break is just around the corner, and we hope you'll join us at One World Project for our Seeds and Chefs camp, taking place April 14-18! We're cooking up a week chock-full of adventure, learning, and connection with nature for students ages 2-10, in which campers will explore the food we eat and where it comes from.

At Seeds & Chefs, students will get the chance to practice lots of Spanish while they garden and cook healthy food together. We'll discover new plants and what helps them grow. We'll be learning about some key ingredients where they come from, and what makes them healthy. And of course, we'll get to taste all our culinary creations at the end.

Registration is open now until the deadline, Tuesday, April 8 -- to register, please see our website hereOur camps are tailored to support children wherever they are in the process of language-learning, and all students are welcome with any level of previous Spanish experience. Please feel free to enroll regardless of your child's Spanish ability, and help us spread the word after you register to other friends and family that might be interested!

And as a reminder, we always work hard to ensure that our opportunities are available for all, regardless of socioeconomic status. For more information about financial aid and scholarship opportunities, please see here.

And lastly, please feel free to reach out to me with any questions at lposel@oneworldproject.org!

CUENTOS Y CANCIONES: STORYTELLING AND SONGS, SPANISH BOOK FAIR AT ONE WORLD PROJECT

From One World Project
Please join One World Project this Friday, March 7, from 5-6:30pm at 302 Vanderbilt Street for a new edition of Cuentos y Canciones! RSVP here

At OWP, we use stories and songs very intentionally, and thought that sharing some of our favorites with the community would be important.

This time the event will center around themes of friendship and community: how can we foster connections -- both new and old -- throughout our communities? We'll select some treasured songs and stories that encourage us to be curious about the world around us, to learn more about one another, and to be kind and build bridges through both our similarities and differences.

We also want to invite all those in our community to come and share. Should you be interested in reading a favorite story or singing a song about friendship in English or Spanish, please reach out to Silvia at silvia@oneworldproject.org.

There is a suggested donation of $25 per family, but we hope that you'll give only what you can -- more if you are able, and less if you are not. We can't wait to share this evening with you!

WINTER CLOTHING DRIVE FOR P.S. 130 FAMILIES IN NEED

A message from the P.S. 130 PTA
:

Each year, PS 130 families join together to ensure that every child in our school has all their needs met this winter.

Families in need register to receive bags of requested items donated by our community, so that no child goes without. This year we expect as many as 100 children to register -- we REALLY need your help to fill that many bags!

Just as in years past, the PTA will deliver a “winter warmth” package of a coat, boots or shoes, a hat and gloves to families that request it.

We will also give the families an additional gift card so they can purchase their child’s “needs and wants” directly -- items like toys, books, games, pjs, clothing, bedding, and more.

If your family is in a position to help, please give generously, [https://secure.givelively.org/donate/ps-130-parkside-pta/ps-130-pta-holiday-gift-drive-2023], as the need in our community is great!

Donations will be gratefully accepted until this Saturday, December 9th.

The P.S. 130 Lower School is located at 70 Ocean Parkway, at the corner of Fort Hamilton Parkway. The Upper School is at 713 Caton Avenue, between E. 7th and E. 8th streets.
