From mid-April through mid-June, we invite teens to come to our
15,000 square foot outdoor space for a program specially designed to be
an afternoon meeting spot, as well as a learning opportunity!
KoKo staff and special guests engage teens in conversations about
environmental challenges and support them in developing creative
solutions to fight global warming in the urban setting. The
curriculum for the program has been co-created with a teen intern from
City As School.
Every Wednesday will start with a clothing swap, which will serve as
an icebreaker and transition us into our work at the Lot, where teens
will be able to tinker and build with found and recycled materials.
Teens will also be able to use battery-operated drills and hand saws
with guidance from KoKo staff.
During the 8 weeks, we will work on projects such as: inoculating
mushroom spawn, creating rainwater collection and irrigation systems,
gardening and much more! Teens will have freedom to socialize and come
up with ideas within our proposed curriculum.
Just FYI – All teens will need to fill out a waiver. The program is free.
