USED BOOK DRIVE THIS WEEK, FOLLOWED BY USED BOOK SALE THIS WEEKEND

Buy used books and support P.S. 130 at its sidewalk book sale on Sunday, May 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

If you have used books in good condition that you can donate, bring them to the drop-off wagons from May 12th through May 16th at either P.S. 130 location (713 Caton Avenue, between E. 7th and E. 8th streets or 70 Ocean Parkway, between Fort Hamilton Parkway and Caton Avenue).

Bring them during morning drop-off between 8:20 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. You can also bring them to 70 Ocean Parkway between 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.

The main focus of the book sale will be children's books, but some adult books will also be accepted (no textbooks, test prep books, travel guides, encyclopedias, or dictionaries). 

If you can't donate your books at any of those times, contact the P.S. 130 PTA at info@ps130pta.org.

FALL CLEANING SALE AT LOFTY PIGEON BOOKS

 
Fall Cleaning Sale
Sunday, October 13th
10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. 

Lofty Pigeon Books will hold its first Fall Cleaning Sale on Sunday, October 13th, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Get 10% off everything in the store and take advantage of clearance items, $5 and $8 discounted damages, and a galley giveaway.

Lofty Pigeon Books, which opened in 2023, offers many free events, including a book club, a twice-weekly storytime, comedy nights, interviews of authors, and readings, Q&As, and signings of newly-published books by their authors.

The bookstore's open hours are Mondays through Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

FLEA MARKET, BOOK SALE, AND BAKE SALE AT P.S. 130 UPPER SCHOOL

 
Flea Market, Book Sale, and Bake Sale
Saturday, April 13th, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

P.S. 130 will hold its 7th Annual Flea Market on Saturday, April 13th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Because of the predicted weather conditions, the event will take place indoors in the school gymnasium.

As a community event, items will be sold at very low prices:

  • gently-used baby and children's clothing and shoes 
  • books for adults and children, including educational books
  • toys, games, and puzzles 
  • sporting goods, including for soccer, basketball, baseball, etc.

BOOKS, PLANTS, AND TREATS SALE

 
Spring Thing Sale
Saturday, May 6th, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
 
Gently-used books, plants, baked goods, and M.S. 839 swag will be for sale at the school's outdoor Spring Thing Sale on Saturday, May 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
 
Graduation is approaching for 8th graders, and the proceeds from the sale will be used to support the senior activity fund.

FLEA MARKET AND USED BOOK (AND PLANT) SALE AT P.S. 130 (FREE ADMISSION)

Flea Market and Used Book (and Plant) Sale
Sunday, April 30th, 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

From the P.S. 130 PTA:
 
The Flea & Book (and Plant) Sale returns Sunday, April 30, from 1-4 PM at the Upper School at 713 Caton! If it rains, the event will be held indoors.
 
To SHOP:
Doors open at 1pm and close at 4pm. In addition to all the flea market items, you can also buy PS 130 merch, plants from the gardening committee, and food and drink from the 5th Grade Committee to help pay for the graduation BBQ and 5th-grade dance.


TO DONATE:
We will accept donations on Sunday, April 30 at the PS 130 Upper School at 713 Caton Ave. from 9-11 am. 

We are accepting the following in clean and good condition: 
  • Gently used baby/children’s clothing or shoes (no stained or ripped items, no socks or underwear, please!) 
  • Books (adults, kids, educational) 
  • Toys, games, puzzles (please put loose pieces in a plastic bag) 
  • Sporting goods (soccer, basketball, baseball, etc.) 
  • Accessories (purses, belts)
No items can be donated after 11am. Unsold items will be donated to charity.

USED TOY AND BOOK SALE

 
Used Toy and Book Sale
Sunday, April 2nd, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm.
 
The Craft Salon will hold a used toy and book sale on Sunday, April 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm.
 
The day before, on Saturday, April 1st, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., you're invited to donate gently-used toys and books for the sale. If that time frame doesn't work for you, arrange a different time by texting (917) 324-8290 or e-mailing dari@thecraftsalonstudio.com.
 
Toys need to have all of their parts in working order. Stuffed animals can't be accepted.
 
Books can be anywhere from baby books up to young adult books.
 
On Sunday, April 2nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., visit The Craft Salon to shop for toys and books at rock-bottom prices (nothing above $5).
 
All of the proceeds will be used to benefit Brownsville Abroad. "Started in 2016, the travel club is helping underserved student populations discover the world beyond the traditional classroom." Kensington, Brooklyn, NY (April 13, 2022)– The PS 130 PTA is holding a Flea Market and Book Sale on Saturday, April 30th, 2022, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the PS 130 Upper School Schoolyard, located at 713 Caton Ave. in Kensington, Brooklyn. (Caton between E. 7th and E. 8th Sts).  

 

The Flea Market and Book Sale is open to the public and will feature a huge array of books (for adults and kids); gently used baby and children’s clothes, shoes, and gear; toys, games, and puzzles; household goods, including small appliances; home décor; sporting goods; and accessories.

 

The PTA’s Garden Committee will also be selling herb and veggie starters, a variety of flowering annuals, and baby house plants in beautiful handmade ceramic planters donated by ClayHouse pottery studio— perfect Mother's Day gifts!

 

TO DONATE: The PTA welcomes donations from the community. 

 

Donations can be dropped off at the Upper School Yard the morning of the sale: Saturday, April 30th, from 9-11 a.m.  (No adult clothes, children’s underwear and socks, or bulky items will be accepted; all items should be clean, in good shape, and free of stains and rips. Items that are broken or have missing parts will not be accepted. Nothing will be accepted after 11 am.) 

 

"We are glad to be bringing back the Flea Market + Book Sale after a three-year hiatus,” said PS 130 PTA Co-President Mel Wadle Boller.  “We look forward to welcoming the community to the event – it’s a great way for people to pass on unwanted stuff and find some great bargains.” 

 

Items will be priced to sell, and all funds raised will be used to support the PS 130 PTA.  Baked goods, drinks, and assorted snacks will also be available to purchase.

Visit Friends of Cortelyou Library's annual fall book sale to help raise funds for the library this Saturday, October 19th, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

In addition to the book sale, there will be a bake sale, music, and, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Drag Queen Story Hour.

Donations of baked goods are welcome and can be brought to the library on October 19th.

CELEBRATE EARTH DAY AT PROSPECT FARM

Earth Day Celebration and Book Sale
Saturday, April 22nd, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
 
Celebrate Earth Day and see what's sprouting at Prospect Farm. Our neighborhood's community garden will have activities for all ages, including a book sale, bake sale, scavenger hunt, live music, tours, composting demonstrations, face painting, and planting activities.

The event is free, although donations are welcome.

The celebration will take place on Saturday, April 22nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at 1194 Prospect Avenue, next to the Seeley Street Bridge.
