ART PORTFOLIO SUMMER CAMPS (NYC ART HIGH SCHOOLS)

From Julie Peppito, Peppito Art Workshop:

Portfolio Summer Camps!  (NYC Art High Schools)

Peppito Art Workshop (PAW),  Portfolio Summer Art Camp registration is open.

The majority of my students have gotten into the top NYC art high schools:

LaGuardia, Murrow, Art and design, Sinatra, Brooklyn High School of the Arts, etc…

I have been teaching art in the neighborhood for many years, and I have decades of experience as an artist. I received my BFA from The Cooper Union and my MFA from Alfred University.

My art has been on the cover of The New York Times, on the grounds of The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, and at The Old Stone House, The Sugarhill Museum, and many other venues around New York City and the nation.

🦋 ðŸŒ¼ðŸŒ¸  This summer I am offering two camps that each focus on two of the four required pieces for NYC Art High School portfolios.

They begin with an introduction to observational drawing, the primary skill needed for most of the required pieces. The goal is to focus on the fundamentals of observational drawing for a day each week, spend two full days on each required piece, and have fun doing it!

*To work on all four pieces, sign up for both sessions.

Programs are held in my Kensington, Brooklyn, studio.

July 20 - 24 :

Still Life, Fantastical Sandwich (+ Drawing 101)

July 27 - 31:

Self Portrait, Figure Drawing (+ Drawing 101)

In all of my programs I work with artists where they’re at. And if artists are speeding through their pieces or really seem to need a break from my studio, we may go to the Brooklyn Museum for a day to draw and break up the week.

We also usually go out for ice cream and/or other treats during the day, and there will be time to loosen up with some ping pong or other games.

*Please note that artists may not end up with completed pieces. I will help them get as far as possible without putting them under unnecessary pressure.

SUMMER PORTFOLIO CAMP REGISTRATION IS OPEN FOR YOUNG ARTISTS

From Julie Peppito, Peppito Art Studio:

Summer Art - Portfolio Camp (Registration open now)

Hi Neighbors,

I am the owner and director of Peppito Art Workshop (PAW), located in Kensington, Brooklyn (near MS 839); my name is Julie Peppito.

In addition to teaching at PAW, I am a full time artist with a BFA from The Cooper Union, an MFA from Alfred University, and decades of experience making and exhibiting art.

Almost all of my students have gotten into top NYC Art High Schools, including La Guardia, Murrow, Sinatra, Art & Design, Brooklyn High School of the Arts, and more. If your young artist will be an 8th grader this fall or next fall, it's a good idea to begin their portfolios now.

From a parent:
“When we decided to enroll Eli in the portfolio class, I thought of it as a means to an end, but I now realize that I was completely wrong.  Eli's art is so very improved, but even more remarkable has been the improvement to his art making process. I'm no artist myself, but I do spend some time teaching writing, and the value of process is something I talk a lot about.  I feel like Eli is really starting to grasp what it means to see and work like an artist.”

Registration is open now. My program is small, only 10 participants in each camp. I cover the 4 required portfolio pieces: still life, self-portrait, figure drawing, and fantastical sandwich (fantastical sandwich is only required for some art high schools but is a great extra piece). If there is time, we will work on the 1 to 4 extra pieces for the portfolio as well.
