KOKO LOT VOLUNTEER CLEANUP DAY IN WINDSOR TERRACE

Volunteer Day at the KoKo LotSunday, Jan 25 from 1 pm to 4 pm ESTBring your friends and family and join us to help get the KoKo Lot cleaned up!
Join us on Sunday, January 25th from 1PM - 4PM at the Lot! You'll have the opportunity to use tools to help us take apart old projects, clean and organize the space, and more!
All ages are welcome, but waivers are required for anyone under 18, and any volunteers 12 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
This is a great opportunity for curious neighbors and the families of KoKo kids to get acquainted with the Lot, our programming, our tools, and some of our team!
About volunteering at the KoKo Lot:
- Please be sure to dress for the weather and wear closed-toed, durable shoes.
- Please bring a pre-filled water bottle and snacks in case you get hungry while at the Lot.
- Bathrooms are off-site nearby at the Green-Wood Cemetery.
- The KoKo Lot is nut free.

WINDSOR TERRACE WILL BE THE MEETING PLACE IN FEBRUARY FOR THE 72ND PRECINCT COMMUNITY COUNCIL (COVERING WINDSOR TERRACE, GREENWOOD HEIGHTS, SOUTH SLOPE, AND SUNSET PARK

Twice a year, the 72nd Precinct Community Council meeting is held in Windsor Terrace. Its other eight meetings are held in Sunset Park.
The next meeting between the public, the 72nd Precinct Community Council, and officers of the 72nd Precinct will be held in Windsor Terrace on Tuesday, February 10th, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Meet and talk with the precinct's Commanding Officer, Captain Mobeen Yasin, the precinct's Community Affairs officers, and the Q-Team officers.
People who live or work in Windsor Terrace, Greenwood Heights, South Slope, and Sunset Park are invited to the meeting to discuss past crimes as well as to learn what the precinct is doing to prevent future crimes.
Find out about the types of crime that have been taking place, their frequency, any enabling factors, and how to prevent them.
Members of the public are invited to voice their concerns about criminal activity, including armed robberies, rape and other forms of sexual assaults, home break-ins, burglaries in local stores, bank robberies, speeding drivers, stolen bicycles, package theft, and other crimes.

CRAFTING AND WRITING WORKSHOP: STITCHING COMMUNITY: TELLING STORIES THROUGH EMBROIDERY AND WRITING (FREE)
In this workshop, participants will learn traditional kantha running stitch embroidery. Together, we will weave stories about home and belonging with our neighbors.
Embroidery instructor Farida Ruhul [member of the Bangladeshi Ladies Club] and writer Roohi Choudhry will guide us through the first half of the session stitching and chatting together. Afterwards, we will write and share stories. This is a bilingual program open to Bangla and English speakers.
Craft and writing supplies will be provided. All experience levels welcome. Please RSVP in advance!

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS CARDS, ZINES, AND WHISTLE KITS: A KENSINGTON AND WINDSOR TERRACE "MAKING STUFF" EVENT IN RESPONSE TO ICE KIDNAPPINGS (FREE)
KWT Up!Rising will have a zine folding and whistle kit making afternoon on 1/10 from 1-3PM. It will be a casual gathering to make materials to hand out to both allies of and members of communities at risk of ICE kidnappings.This event will be on McDonald Ave near Fort Hamilton Parkway; more specific directions will be shared when you RSVP.
- This will be a casual, come as you can, making stuff event with no info dump, but conversation can include information and knowledge sharing!
- You will be welcome to take materials made, but the goal will be to create materials for distribution in Sunset Park.
- If you want to contribute but cannot come, we need printing help and whistles as well! Paper and Cardstock are always welcome too!
