P.S. 130 PTA HOLIDAY GIFT DRIVE
Each year, PS 130 families join together to ensure that every child in our school has all their needs met this winter. Families in need register to receive a bag of requested items donated by our community, so that no child goes without. This year we expect as many as 100 children to register -- we REALLY need your help to fill that many bags!Just as we did last year, the PTA will deliver a “winter warmth” package of a coat, boots or shoes, a hat and gloves to families that request it. We will also give the families an additional gift card so they can purchase their child’s “needs and wants” directly -- items like toys, books, games, pjs, clothing, bedding, and more.If your family is in a position to help, please give generously, as the need in our community is great!

HOLIDAY GIFT DRIVE FOR THE CHILDREN AT THE KENSINGTON FAMILY SHELTER
A request for donations of gifts for the holidays for the children living at The Kensington Family Shelter. From Tracy and Catherine, our neighborhood's volunteer liaisons to the shelter.
Hello neighbors,We hope you and your loved ones are healthy and well. The holiday season is upon us, and it's time to spread some cheer to our neighbors living at the Kensington Family Shelter. We will be working with shelter staff on a few additional opportunities [stay tuned for details], but want to get the children's gift drive going so there is time to get everything delivered and wrapped. For the kids, you are welcome to order off the list and have an item shipped directly to the shelter, or you can purchase the exact item somewhere else and have it shipped or drop it off (the shelter is address is 385 McDonald Ave., Brooklyn, NY, 11218, and all items should be sent attention Uniquia Parker). Gifts have been hand-picked for each child, so we ask that you do not donate items not on the list. If you do purchase somewhere besides Amazon, please be sure to mark the gift as purchased on the list. Please note that, due to storage constraints, the Kensington Family Shelter is not accepting any other donations at this time.Thank you so much for your continued generosity. When this tradition began in 2015, we never imagined that we'd still be going so strong into YEAR EIGHT! The families and the shelter staff have been overwhelmed by your caring each year, and we know that 2022 will be no different.Love,Tracy and Catherine

WINDSOR TERRACE FOOD COOP SERVES THE WINDSOR TERRACE AND KENSINGTON COMMUNITIES: ORIGINS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
Windsor Terrace Food Coop founders and members, along with Assemblymember Robert Carroll and Councilmember Shahana Hanif, celebrated the Coop's 10-year history with a kombucha toast and discussed its work to serve the community, including during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Coop was first created to address the loss of neighborhood grocery stores in 2012 and ensure that the Windsor Terrace and Kensington communities had continued access to healthy, local and organic food.
The Coop first opened its door at 825 Caton Avenue in March 2015 after three years of community organizing. Nearly 800 neighbors have been members during our first seven years of store operation.
Over the years, the Coop has increased the number of products on its shelves, including from local bakeries and other Brooklyn-made goods, as well as organic produce from farms in the New York City area.
The Coop has continued to serve an important role in the community, and during the pandemic partnered with local restaurants to take over their ingredient orders.
It also worked with local community groups like People in Need (https://www.peopleinneed.org/
The Coop also kicked off its latest Open House event, which will allow all community members to walk in and shop on the following days:
Thursdays: 3 pm - 8 pm
Fridays: 9:30 am - 11:30 am & 4 pm - 7 pm
Saturdays: 10 am - 4 pm
The Coop will remain open to members only on Sundays and Monday. Members of any other Brooklyn food coop are also welcome to shop at any time.
