LGBTQ GROUP WILL MARCH IN BROOKLYN ST. PATRICK'S PARADE
For the first time since Brooklyn's St. Patrick's Parade began in 1975, an Irish LGBTQ organization will march as a contingent and display its banner.
The organization, Brooklyn Irish LGBTQ Organization (BILO), "was formed by LGBTQ Brooklynites of Irish descent to celebrate the diversity of the Irish community in Brooklyn."
At 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 17th, the 44th Annual Brooklyn St. Patrick's Parade will start at Prospect Park West and 15th Street in Windsor Terrace. Marchers will walk down 15th Street, over to 7th Avenue and Garfield Place, back up to Prospect Park West, and to the parade's starting point.
Grand Marshal of this year's parade will be Bernadette Buckley Kash, the director of Buckley School of Irish Dance on 16th Street in Windsor Terrace. Bernadette's family founded the school in 1976.
The Reviewing Stand will be at Bartel-Pritchard Square, at Prospect Park West and 15th Street.
As always, the parade will be in remembrance of the heroes and victims of the September 11th attacks on the United States.
