Brian Cohen (Graham Chapman) is an average young Jewish man, but through a series of ridiculous events, he gains a reputation as the Messiah. 

 

When he’s not dodging his followers or being scolded by his shrill mother (Terry Jones), the hapless Brian has to contend with the pompous Pontius Pilate (Michael Palin) and acronym-obsessed members of a separatist movement. 

 

Rife with Monty Python’s signature absurdity, the tale finds Brian’s life paralleling Biblical lore, albeit with many more laughs.

The stages of life are told through multiple sketches and songs by the British comedy troupe. 

 

The seven parts of life cover birth, growing up, war, middle age, organ transplants, old age and death. 

 

Not all stages are singular: “Part I: The Miracle of Birth” is from the perspective of an ignored woman in labor, and of a Roman Catholic couple with too many children, and “Part VII: Death” encompasses a funeral and heaven. 

 

Added are three unrelated skits placed in the beginning, middle and end.

BLOOMSDAY IN BROOKLYN

Bloomsday in Brooklyn

Bloomsday is a celebration of Irish writer James Joyce’s Ulysses and its protagonist, Leopold Bloom. Join The Society of Friendly Sons of St. Patrick Brooklyn for its fifteenth annual celebration of Bloomsday on Saturday, June 14th.

 

Meet at Nitehawk Cinema at 2:00 p.m. and then move on to Farrell's Bar at 3:00 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus Hall at 4:00 p.m.

 

Readings and music (including music by Donie Carroll) are all on the day's agenda. Donations for the music are welcome. Each location will have a cash bar.

 

Ulysses takes place on a single day, June 16th, 1904, so Bloomsday's official date is June 16th of each year,

Film far at the seven-theater multiplex, which opened in December, includes blockbusters, family-friendly movies, art-house movies, independent films, and foreign films.

Nitehawk's intended audience is 18 years old or older. But children who are age 6 or older are allowed to attend when they're accompanied by an adult. Each adult can be accompanied by up to 3 children.

Audience members who are age 13 or older can attend any appropriately-rated matinee showtime that starts before 6:00 p.m. Anyone who's under 18 years old won't be admitted to a show after 6:00 pm without a guardian. 

The seven theaters have different numbers of seats. Combined, they have 650 seats. The largest theater seats 194 people.
 
Advance tickets are sold online on the theater's website. If you have a seating preference, line up at the theater more than thirty minutes prior to showtime.

Assigned seating will be made available sometime in the future.

General admission tickets cost $13 for adults and $10 for children and seniors (age 60 and older). 

First-run shows Mondays through Fridays begin at around 3:30 p.m., with the last show starting at around 10:00 p.m. On the weekends, brunch begins at around 11:00 a.m. Midnight screenings are offered on Fridays and Saturdays.
 
Full food and beverage service is available in all seven theaters and includes vegan and gluten-free menus. The food isn't kosher.

The theater has ADA-compliant elevators.

MOVIE THEATER OPENING SOON ON THE WINDSOR TERRACE / PARK SLOPE BORDER

A seven-theater multiplex will open on Prospect Park West next week. Film fare will include blockbusters, family-friendly movies, art-house movies, independent films, and foreign films.

FILM SHORTS FESTIVAL COMING TO NITEHAWK CINEMA ON PROSPECT PARK WEST

"Nitehawk Cinema’s annual NITEHAWK SHORTS FESTIVAL is back for its sixth year!

NSF2018 features six days of short film screenings, special events, and parties at our Williamsburg and forthcoming Prospect Park location. As always, our short films are under twenty minutes and represent our mission to highlight and support a diverse range of voices.

"Nitehawk accepts short films of all genres that are made within the past two years (2016-2018) and that are under twenty minutes."

Nitehawk Prospect Park is expected to open during this spring season. It's located at 188 Prospect Park West, the former site of the Pavilion Theater and, prior to that, the Sanders.

AMPLE HILLS CREAMERY WILL OPEN NEAR BARTEL-PRITCHARD SQUARE

The Ample Hills Creamery ice cream chain has signed a lease to rent the building next to the former Pavilion Theater (the future Nitehawk Cinema Prospect Park), with plans to open in fall 2018.

The curved one-story building at 192 Prospect Park West fronts on Bartel-Pritchard Square and is located in the Park Slope Historic District Extension. It was constructed in 1921.

Ample Hills Creamery's owners, Brian Smith and Jackie Cuscuna, will renovate the interior to make it resemble a 1930s-era ice cream shop, which it had been in the 1930s. The ice cream parlor will occupy the portion of the building that has rooftop access.

This will bring Ample Hills' locations in Brooklyn to six (four permanent and two seasonal), in addition to having two permanent locations in Manhattan, one in Jersey City, and one in Walt Disney World.
