DISRUPTED WATER SERVICE, STREET CLOSURES, RODENTS, DUST, AND NOISE ARE COMING TO KENSINGTON

  • Temporary water service disruptions.
  • Dust.
  • Noise.
  • The presence of heavy equipment.
  • Possible limited street access.
  • An increase in rodents, which the city will try to control.
  • Street closures.
  • Traffic detours.
  • Temporary restrictions on access to driveways.
  • Possible bus detours.

These are the problems predicted to plague Brooklyn neighborhoods when water mains get replaced. The aggravation will start on Monday, December 11th.

Bay Ridge will be the first of nine (and possibly more) Brooklyn neighborhoods to experience this. Among the other eight are Kensington and Borough Park.

Work will be carried out Mondays through Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and possibly nights from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., if needed. Sleep deprivation isn't pretty.
