A CSA that's new to Brooklyn is offering a Late Spring Share, starting next week. The pick-up location is Founders Workspace at 553 Prospect Avenue, near the corner of 10th Avenue.
The share is for six weeks of weekly deliveries. A "share" is a membership or subscription in the CSA (Community Supported Agriculture).
The first delivery will be on Thursday, May 4th, and the final one will be on Thursday, June 8th. Pick-ups are on Thursdays from noon to 6:00 p.m.
The vegetables are grown by Pete's Greens, a certified organic, four-season, vegetable farm in Vermont. Pete's Greens grows vegetables according to the season, year-round.
The weekly delivery is a box of five to seven types of farm-fresh vegetables, including fresh greens. In the spring, a box will contain
- tender greens like kale, chard, Asian greens, and spinach;
- hearty potatoes, carrots, and beets;
- storage onions and fresh onions;
- young radishes, parsnips, and salad turnips; and
- head lettuce, cucumbers, baby fennel, and more.
Each week, CSA members also receive a newsletter with storage tips, recipes, and news about the farm.
A share costs $25 per week. Sign up now to receive one free introductory delivery: pay $125 for six weeks of deliveries instead of $150. Pay with either a credit or debit card.
