As of today, the Kensington Dog Run is fully funded!
With much excitement, we are happy to share the news that the Kensington Dog Run at the Prospect Park Parade Ground will be fully-funded this year!Thank you to the Kensington Dog Run Association for devoting so much time and effort to making a dog run a reality for the neighborhood's dogs and their human companions.
The project was made possible with allocated funds via Participatory Budgeting from Council Member Mathieu Eugene of District 40 and via Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams' capital allocations. The balance of the funds needed will be covered by Council Member Brad Lander of District 39.
Once the City budget passes at the end of June, the Prospect Park Alliance and the Parks Department will work together to develop a design for the new dog run. They’ll then put out a call for bids from contractors, select a contractor, and sign an agreement. Once the contractor is on board, construction can begin!
Thanks to everyone who voted for the dog run in Participatory Budgeting this year and to all of the residents for their ongoing support. This is a huge victory for the neighborhood!
