HOW TO REPORT SNOW OR ICE ON SIDEWALKS AND ROADWAYS

Reporting Snow or Ice on Sidewalks
While snow is falling, the city doesn't accept complaints about snowy or icy sidewalks.

But after it stops, every property owner is required to clear a path on their sidewalks for pedestrians to walk on and also has to remove the snow from sidewalks next to bus stops and hydrants. If they don't, they can get a summons.
  • If the snow stops between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., property owners must clear their sidewalks within four hours.
  • If the snow stops between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., property owners must clear their sidewalks before 11:00 a.m.

Snow or Ice on Roadway Removal
When it snows, the city has a plan that it follows for clearing snow and ice from priority locations: highways, snow emergency streets, bus lanes, and other primary routes.

After those locations are cleared, the city spreads salt and plows all of the roadways.
