KENSINGTON AND MIDWOOD RESIDENTS: SHAKE UP COMMUNITY BOARD 12!

In light of the revelation about Community Board 12, we'd like to once again encourage people to attend the board's meetings and to apply for membership on the board.

CB 12 covers Borough Park, Kensington, and Midwood. Borough Park is overly represented on the Board, and most of the people who attend the meetings live in Borough Park. Kensington and Midwood residents need to be heard from at CB 12 meetings during the public comment period at the beginning of each meeting.

The next meeting will be on Tuesday, February 22nd, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., on the 3rd floor of Amico Senior Center, 5910 13th Avenue, between 59th and 60th streets. If you use public transportation, take the B16 bus to 56th Street.

A community board has fifty members who are chosen by the borough president from among people who are active and involved in the community. Board members have to live in New York City and have to live, work, or have a professional or other significant interest in the district. Half of the fifty are appointed through a recommendation by the local City Councilmember.

To find out what a community board does, who can be on a board, and how to apply for board  membership, please read "Your Neighborhood Needs You to Join Your Community Board."

Please consider applying for membership and helping to change the balance of power on CB 12. The deadline for applying is February 25th.
