Community Board 7 represents Windsor Terrace, East Windsor Terrace, South Park Slope, Greenwood Heights, and Sunset Park.

ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING SUSPENDED ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH, AND TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 17TH

Alternate side of the street parking regulations, normally in effect for street cleaning, will be suspended on Monday, February 16th, for Presidents Day, and on Tuesday, February 17th, to facilitate snow removal.

All other parking regulations, including those for parking meters, will be in effect.

ALTERNATE PARKING SUSPENDED FOR TWO DAYS: FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 13TH, AND SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 14TH

The alternate side of the street parking regulations that are normally in effect for street cleaning will be suspended on Friday, February 13th, and Saturday, February 14th, to facilitate snow removal.

All other parking regulations, including those for parking meters, will be in effect.

ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING SUSPENDED TOMORROW, FEBRUARY 12TH

The alternate side of the street parking regulations that are normally in effect for street cleaning will be suspended on Thursday, February 12th, for Lincoln's birthday.

All other parking regulations, including those for parking meters, will be in effect.

FIRE ON PROSPECT PARK WEST INJURES TWO PEOPLE

A fire this morning in an apartment at 263 Prospect Park West (between Prospect Avenue and 17th Street) led to two people being hospitalized. The fire in the four-story building took 45 minutes to extinguish.

NEWEST DATE FOR FOOD COOP MEETING IN WINDSOR TERRACE

The Windsor Terrace Food Coop members meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 24, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Holy Name Parish Hall at 245 Prospect Park West. Details about the meeting are on the KARMABrooklyn blog here.

FOOD COOP MEETING POSTPONED AGAIN

We've been advised that bad weather conditions have led to the cancellation of tonight's meeting of the Windsor Terrace Food Coop. The meeting will be rescheduled. Actually, it will be re-rescheduled!

F TRAIN RUNNING EXPRESS THIS WEEKEND, FEBRUARY 6TH THROUGH 9TH

Coney Island-bound F trains will run express from Smith-9 Sts to Neptune Avenue from Friday, February 6th, at 11:45 p.m. until Monday, February 9th, at 5:00 a.m. 

Coney Island-bound F trains won't be stopping at 4th Av-9th St, 15th St-Prospect Park, Fort Hamilton Pkwy, Ditmas Av, Avenue I, Bay Pkwy, Avenue N, Avenue P, Avenue U, or Avenue X.

The travel alternatives are

• For 4th Av-9th St, 15th St-Prospect Park, and Fort Hamilton Pkwy, take the G train instead. Transfer between trains at Smith-9th Sts, 7th Avenue, or Church Avenue.
• For service to Ditmas Av, Avenue I, Bay Pkwy, Avenue N, Avenue P, Avenue U and Avenue X, take the F train to 18th Av, Kings Hwy, or Neptune Avenue and transfer to a Jamaica-bound F train.
• For service from these stations, take the F train to Kings Hwy, 18th Avenue, or Church Avenue and transfer to a Coney Island-bound F train.

Organizing the Coop:

operating groups will be formed, including

·       Layout/ Renovation - create an appropriate space for the sale of food

·       Food Committee - identify the potential source of food and the costs related to purchasing and selling it

·       Operations Committee - develop an operational strategy, including membership work schedules, job and responsibility assignment

·       Facility Committee - oversee management of the site

·       Finance Committee - oversee coop finances

·       Outreach Committee - reach out to and increase membership

·       Legal Committee - oversee all legal issues

·       Insurance Committee - identify and recommend the purchase of appropriate insurance policies for the coop

·       Fund Raising Committee - initiate and investigate fund raising opportunities 

·       IT Committee - oversee social media, the website, and other forms of electronic communication

The Coop Board is aiming for Saturday, March 21st, for the formal opening of the coop at  825 Caton Avenue.

LIMITED TRASH COLLECTION RESUMES

The Department of Sanitation (DSNY) will resume limited collection tonight throughout New York City, starting at 7:00 p.m. 

Recycled material wasn't collected on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, January 19th, or on Monday, January 26th, because of snow removal, so DSNY crews will focus on collecting recycling in areas that are scheduled for Monday recycling service.

Residents should place their material out at the curbside.  Place it in a cleared area, if possible, to make it easier for sanitation workers to get to the cans and bags.

WINDSOR TERRACE FOOD COOP MEMBERS MEETING POSTPONED

We've gotten word that the initial meeting of Windsor Terrace Food Coop members has been postponed because of weather conditions. It will be rescheduled.

The meeting was to have taken place tonight at 7:00 p.m. in Holy Name Parish Hall.

SCHOOL AS USUAL ON MONDAY

New York City public schools will be open on Monday, February 2nd. Field trips have been canceled. After-school activities will occur as scheduled.

NO TRASH PICK-UP MONDAY

Monday trash and recycling pickups will not be made tomorrow because of snow clearing operations. Department of Sanitation crews will resume collections after the storm clean-up is complete.

NEW DATE FOR MEETING THE NEW PROSPECT PARK ALLIANCE PRESIDENT (FREE)

Meet the Prospect Park Alliance President

Wednesday, February 18th, 7:00 p.m.

Join Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams in meeting and greeting Sue Donoghue, the new president and park administrator of the Prospect Park Alliance, as she presents her vision for Prospect Park. She will also participate in a Q&A session with the public.

The event, originally planned for January 28th, had to be rescheduled for Wednesday, February 18th, at 7:00 p.m., because of the weather.

The event will take place in the Picnic House in Prospect Park at 40 West Drive.

PARKING RULES SUSPENDED MONDAY, FEBRUARY 2ND, BECAUSE OF A STORM WARNING

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning citywide for tonight at 7:00 p.m. through tomorrow at 6:00 p.m.

The service is predicting that 4 to 8 inches of snow will fall and that we'll get a mix of freezing rain, sleet, and plain rain, with a possibility of up to one-quarter inch of ice. 

Drivers and pedestrians: visibility could be as low as about one-fourth of a mile or less at times.

As a result of this forecast, our Transportation and Sanitation departments are suspending alternate side parking regulations citywide tomorrow--Monday, February 2nd--to facilitate snow removal.

The Meet & Greet scheduled for tonight in Prospect Park has been canceled because of the weather. It will be rescheduled.

PARKING RULES FOR THIS WEEK

What do you want the Windsor Terrace Food Coop to sell? Fruit? Beverages? Dairy products? Paper goods?

Which days do you want the coop to be open? (It will probably be open one day during the week and one day on the weekend.)

In preparation for the first Windsor Terrace Food Coop members meeting, the coop board is asking members to fill out a short survey. The issues raised in the survey will be the focus of the meeting. Click here to fill it out.
