Ocean Parkway Street Cleanup

Saturday, March 6th, 10:00 a.m. to noon

 

An Ocean Parkway clean-up event will take place this Saturday, March 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Meet on the east side of Ocean Parkway at Cortelyou Road.

 

The organizers will bring tools, gloves, and garbage bags, but you can still bring whatever supplies you have--gloves, pickers, rakes, and trash bags.

 

Participants should wear masks and maintain social distancing to keep themselves and their neighbors safe.

The Ocean Parkway pedestrian malls are messy again, so neighborhood residents will clean up a block or two of them this Sunday, January 10th, starting at 9:00 a.m.

 

Meet at the corner of Ocean Parkway and Beverley Road. Bring whatever supplies you have--gloves, pickers, rakes, and trash bags. If have extra supplies to share with others, post it on the event's Facebook page.

 

Wear A Mask. Maintain Social Distancing. Be safe.

Ocean Parkway, between Avenue C and Cortelyou Road
(on the east side of Ocean Parkway

in the Yellow Zone, in front of the odd-numbered buildings)

Let's pick up some trash and help beautify our block.

 
Grabbers, rakes, gloves, and garbage bags will be provided.

 
Invite your friends and neighbors and bring your kids.

Update: On Saturday morning, if it's raining at 8:00 or 8:30, the community cleanup will be rescheduled for Sunday, August 30th, from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Ocean Parkway Cleanup

Saturday, August 29th, 9:00 a.m. to noon

Neighborhood residents who don't like the unsightly, unhealthy litter on their streets will continue working together to remove it from the Ocean Parkway service road and pedestrian mall on the east side of Ocean Parkway later this month.

Meet up with the Ocean Parkway Cleanup Crew and The Kensington Stewards on the east side of Ocean Parkway (the side near E. 7th Street) at the intersection of Church Avenue. From there, everyone will work their way south to Avenue C.

The Sanitation Department and the Parks Department will loan some cleanup supplies (grabbers, brooms, etc.), but bring your own cleanup tools, if you have any. The Sanitation Department will pick up the filled trash bags shortly afterward.

This cleanup event will take place on Saturday, August 29th. Drop in to help for however long you can between 9:00 a.m. and noon.

In addition to this and the two previous organized group efforts, people have been picking up litter on their own or with a friend or two. All efforts are appreciated!

Wear a face mask to protect each other from COVID-19, and wear gloves to protect your hands from any litter you might handle.

Invite adults and children from the neighborhood to join in on this ongoing community project.

Beverley Road to Avenue C (East Side)

Saturday, July 18th, 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Fresh off of Wednesday night's successful cleanup of the east side of Ocean Parkway from Church Avenue to Beverley Road, neighborhood residents will do a second cleanup.

This time, the east side of Ocean Parkway from Beverley Road to Avenue C will be cleaned up.

Meet up with your neighbors tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. on the east side (odd-numbered addresses) of Ocean Parkway where it intersects with Beverley Road.

Bring trash bags and grabbers, if you have them, and wear a face mask (Stamp out COVID-19!) and gloves to protect your hands.

Invite other neighborhood adults and children to join in on this ongoing community project.

These cleanup events are organized by Ocean Parkway Cleanup, a newly-formed grassroots group of people working together to beautify their neighborhood.

Ocean Parkway is a beloved and historic boulevard, used for living, strolling, jogging, sitting, playing chess and checkers, driving, and bicycling. The nation's first designated bicycle lane is on Ocean Parkway.

Ocean Parkway will be made even more beautiful and appealing tonight through community members working together to pick up litter.

Neighborhood residents will join together from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to pick up and bag the litter on the east (odd-numbered) side of Ocean Parkway, between Church Avenue and Beverley Road. 

Meet on Wednesday, July 15th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Ocean Parkway-Church Avenue intersection.

Wear a mask to protect others and gloves to protect yourself. Bring trash bags and, if you have them, brooms, rakes, and a reacher/grabber that looks something like this.
