Hello Friends,
Yes, Prospect Range Projects is still here (!) albeit in a highly periodic way. John and I would love to see you for the closing reception of this very special exhibition on Tuesday evening, July 15th, from 6:30 on.

It's the third installment of John's deep dive into some of New York's forgotten corners, and to celebrate the impact of the overall project, we are including some treasures from the Gowanus and Rockaway series.

My Best,
Dexter

PROSPECT RANGE IS REOPENING WITH EXHIBIT OF PAINTINGS

Opening Reception for John Wilkes Paintings
Saturday, May 6th, 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Dexter Buell, the owner of Prospect Range, writes
Prospect Range is reopening its doors after a years-long hiatus. Having hosted cultural events on and off since 2009, a rebranded Prospect Range Projects returns with an exhibition of paintings by Brooklyn artist John Wilkes.

John's acrylic on canvas and wood panel images of the Rockaways at night will be familiar to local residents who have ventured out to our nearby ocean beaches. They are strangely desolate and familiar at the same time.

All are welcome.
The opening reception will be held on Saturday, May 6th, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

JOHN WILKES PAINTINGS ON EXHIBIT AT PROSPECT RANGE

John Wilkes Exhibit
Saturday, October 14th, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, October 15th, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

John Wilkes' paintings of the Gowanus Canal will be on exhibit at Prospect Range this weekend. Wilkes paints on photographs he takes of the canal at night.

Prospect Range owner Dexter Buell says about Brooklyn painter John Wilkes
His exhibition of paintings based on photographs of the Gowanus Canal area at night is a continuation of his last SOLD OUT show at the Range last year.

In this body of work John's preoccupation with the scarred and beautiful terrain of our own local superfund site remains his focus even as his palette deepens. He has discovered even more subtle variations of light and gesture in these paintings.

Wilkes' paintings can be viewed on both Saturday and Sunday, October 14th and 15th, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 pm.
