DENNY'S LOSING CUSTOMERS OVER CABLEVISION DISPUTE
The money battle between Cablevision and News Corp. that started last Friday at midnight is costing Denny's Steak Pub money.
"This is ridiculous!" said Kevin Ryan, owner of Denny's Bar, a family business in Brooklyn's Kensington neighborhood. "I'm relying on people to come in who are Giants fans — and they're walking out, even though I pay for the football package."
He blames his debacle on "typical billionaire behavior, against the small businessman like me; and regular, everyday people get caught in the middle."
Ryan said he expected to lose "a good amount of money over three big events": the Giants' 28-20 win over Detroit and the first two games of baseball's National League Championship Series between San Francisco and Philadelphia.

APPRECIATION FOR KENSINGTON'S RESTAURANTS
Kensington gets its due in "Summer Saturdays: Kensington and Windsor Terrace." The writer highlights Brancaccio's Food Shop ("a menu made with the highest quality ingredients, yet all the dishes are super affordable"), Faro's Restaurant ("for a good restaurant that's light on your wallet"), Am-Thai Chili Basil ("the flavors they deliver are straight off the streets of Bangkok"), Shenanigan's Pub ("a more authentic neighborhood watering hole"), and Denny's Steak House ("which made the list of "real dives" in the Village Voice last year").

NO BEEF WITH DENNY'S STEAK PUB
Denny's Steak Pub isn't just steak. Actually, it isn't steak at all. Many years ago, it was--now it's all pub. Denny's is featured in Off the Presses. The review is reprinted, with photos, on Eater NY.
