Purple Pam, The Flip Man, and their friends will play acoustic instruments live at Church Bar this Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Purple Pam is a rock/metal/blues and opera singer with a seven-octave range.

THREE-WOMAN POETRY READING AT CHURCH BAR (FREE)


Second Sunday
Curated Poetry Reading Series
Sunday, December 10th, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The debut event in Church Bar's curated poetry reading series will feature readings by I.S. Jones, Jess Feldman, and Hannah Ingram.

I.S. Jones: "I.S. Jones is a writer, educator, and hip-hop head hailing from Southern California. She is a second-year fellow with The Watering Hole, BOAAT Writer's Retreat, and Callaloo."

Jess Feldman: "Jess Feldman's poetry has appeared in Sixth Finch, Radar Poetry, and diode, and has twice been nominated for the Pushcart Prize. Her manuscript 'Call It A Premonition' was chosen by Zachary Schomburg as winner of the 2015 BOAAT Winter Chapbook Competition."

Hannah Ingram: "Hannah Ingram (she/her) has been teaching in public and private schools in New York and California since 2005. Hannah is committed to ongoing professional development, organizing and curriculum design around anti-racism, dis/ability studies, and queer studies." 

The event is free to the public. Drink specials will be available. The Church Bar menu includes beer, wine, cocktails, and food.

LIVE JAZZ ON CHURCH AVENUE ON TUESDAY

Live Jazz
Tuesday, November 21st, 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Triple Paste will be back at Church Bar playing two sets of jazz standards from the 1930s and 1940s as well as originals.


The musicians are Kensington and Windsor Terrace residents Eric Pakula on sax, Katie Down on ukulele, voice, and flute, Arnold Hammerschlag on trumpet, Leo Sidran on drums, and Arthur Kell on bass.

Triple Paste will perform at Church Bar on Tuesday, November 21st, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

LIVE IRISH MUSIC

Thursday, February 18, 8:00 p.m. until at least 10:00 p.m.

Live Irish traditional music rules at The Church Bar this Thursday. Light bites and drinks are on the menu. 

Musicians playing Irish music appear at The Church Bar every two weeks on a Thursday. After this week's performance, their next appearance at Church Bar will be on Thursday, March 3rd, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. 

On alternating Thursdays, they perform at Shenanigans Pub, 802 Caton Avenue, at the corner of E. 8th Street. Their next appearance at Shenanigans will be on Thursday, March 10th, from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

LIVE JAZZ AT CHURCH BAR



Live Jazz
Wednesdays, 8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Every other Wednesday night, Triple Paste and Friends performs at Church Bar (formerly Church Wine Bar Cafe). Their upcoming dates are November 11th, November 25th, and December 9th. 

The group plays jazz standards, vintage jazz and swing from the 1930s and 40s, original music, and old-time favorites.

The musicians are Eric Pakula on alto sax, Katie Down on uke, flute, and voice, Matt Darriau on clarinet, Chris Nattrass on bass, and Matt Applebaum on guitar.

BARTENDERS NEEDED AT CHURCH BAR

Church Bar is hiring bartenders ASAP.

Position Requirements:
  • friendly, energetic, and professional, 
  • must be able to multitask,
  • willingness to work a flexible schedule with open availability, including weekends and holidays, and
  • experience working in a fast-paced NYC restaurant (minimum 2 years).

A New York City food protection certificate is a big plus.

CHURCH BAR OPENING TONIGHT (THURSDAY)

Church Bar will have its soft opening tonight (Thursday, June 25th). Happy hour will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with complimentary hors d'oeuvres served. The bar will stay open until 4:00 a.m.

Formerly the Church Cafe Wine Bar, Church Bar will have new hours, a tapas menu, Happy Hour, drinks, an open mic, art, music, karaoke, and more.

PERSONALITY CHANGE FOR CHURCH CAFE WINE BAR

Church Cafe Wine Bar will become Church Bar, with new hours, a tapas menu, Happy Hour, drinks, and fun nights with an open mic, art, music, karaoke, and more. The soft opening is tentatively scheduled for next week. The date will be announced soon.
