The Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket, located at Prospect Park West at 15th Street, is open on Wednesdays year-round from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on Sundays from May 12th through December 22nd, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. 

The forms of payment that are accepted are cash, SNAP/EBT, debit/credit, Healthfirst OTC Plus insurance members (select plans), WIC & Senior FMNP coupons, FreshConnect coupons, and Greenmarket Bucks.

 

Spend $2 in SNAP/EBT/P-EBT, get bonus $2 Health Buck, up to $10 per day.

What happens to materials donated?

Material that is not suitable for reuse will go to recycling markets to be used as wiping rags or shredded for low grade fiber products such as insulation.

Accepted: Clean and dry clothing, paired shoes, linens, handbags, belts, and other reusable textiles.
Not accepted: fabric rolls or scraps of any size, rugs, carpeting, pillows, comforters, or luggage.

Why can’t I recycle scraps?

Due to a shift in market conditions, Wearable Collections is unable to accept large volumes of scraps for processing. Your quality donations ensure the sustainability of the textile recycling program, which recovers the portion of non-reusable material for secondary uses.

 

CLOTHING COLLECTION RETURNS TO BARTEL-PRITCHARD SQUARE GREENMARKET ON SUNDAYS

Textile collection will return on Sunday, May 26th, at the Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket, located at Prospect Park West at 15th Street.

On Sundays, the greenmarket is open from May 12th through December 22nd, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; textiles will be collected during those hours.

This greenmarket is also open on Wednesdays year-round, but textiles won't be collected on Wednesdays.

Fresh, locally-produced fruit, vegetables, eggs, seafood, and baked goods are available at this location.

 

The greenmarket accept Cash, SNAP/EBT, Debit/Credit, Healthfirst OTC cards (LIP and CC members only), WIC and Senior FMNP coupons, and Greenmarket Bucks. For every $2 spent in SNAP/EBT/P-EBT, receive an extra $2 in Health Bucks, up to $10 per day.

Among the items sold will be fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables, beef, pork, chicken, wild-caught fish and shellfish, eggs, herbs, breads, pastries, jams, flowers, and plant starts.

• F & G Family Farm Vegetables from Orange County, N.Y.,
• Grape Hollow Farm Fruits, vegetables, chicken, jams, and flowers from Dutchess County, N.Y.,
• Haywoods Fresh Beef, pork, chicken, and eggs from Columbia County, N.Y.,

Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket's Sunday hours will resume on May 6th. The greenmarket is a place to buy fresh, locally-grown produce, eggs, fish, and baked goods.

Stop by the Market Information tent each week to see free cooking demonstrations and to pick up free recipes and literature. Raffles and family-friendly activities will also be featured.

Hours: Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket will be open on Sundays from May 6th through December 16th from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. It's also open year-round on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

WINDSOR TERRACE GREENMARKET MOVES; NO LONGER AT P.S. 154

And then there was one.

In 2012, after the closing of Key Food, Windsor Terrace got its second greenmarket. Residents could shop at the Windsor Terrace-P.S. 154 Greenmarket on 11th Avenue on Sundays and at the Bartel-Prichard Square Greenmarket on Wednesdays.

But as of this past Sunday, June 12th, the Windsor Terrace Greenmarket is gone. Its hours, however, live on at Bartel-Prichard Square.

The Bartel-Prichard continues to be open on Wednesdays, and it's now also open on Sundays. The hours on Sundays are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., year-round. The Wednesday hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., through December 18th.

You can bring food scraps to be composted on Sundays between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Bring textiles for recycling on Sundays too, between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Purchases can be paid for with cash, EBT/Food Stamps, debit cards, credit cards, WIC Vegetable and Fruit checks, and FMNP checks.

GREENMARKET IN WINDSOR TERRACE IS NOW OPEN YEAR-ROUND

The Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket doesn't close in the winter anymore. As of today, the market is open all year long--on Wednesdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The location of the greenmarket is Prospect Park West at 15th Street, inside the entrance of Prospect Park.

EBT/Food Stamps/Debit/Credit (8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and WIC & FMNP checks are accepted.

The last day of the 2014 season for the Windsor Terrace - P.S.154 Greenmarket will be Sunday, December 21st.

BARTEL-PRITCHARD SQUARE GREENMARKET CANCELLED TOMORROW, 11/27/13

Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket is cancelled tomorrow, November 27th.

Due to the stormy weather predicted for 11/27/13, the Wednesday Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket has been cancelled. There is no Bartel-Pritchard Greenmarket tomorrow, 11/27/13.

Unfortunately, the Wednesday market was to have been the last one of the season at Bartel-Pritchard Square. Wednesday, October 30th, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Revaz, the manager of the Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket, will be at the Market Info tent today from 11 to 1 to photograph shoppers as they pose with the sights of autumn set up behind them. Customers are also welcome to pose in their Halloween costumes.

The Pop Up Fall Photo Shoot is one of the annual events at the Bartel-Pritchard Square Greenmarket. This market is located in Prospect Park, along the entrance at 15th street and Prospect Park West. It's open on Wednesdays from 8 am to 3 pm.

New York City dreamed up the idea of the Big Apple Crunch in 2012 and scheduled it to fall on the second annual celebration of Food Day. About 400,000 New Yorkers bit into New York State apples last year. This year's goal? One million!

GrowNYC and Food Day are the hosts of the Big Apple Crunch. Center for Science in the Public Interest founded Food Day in 2011, setting October 24th as the annual date. Food Day's focus is on healthy, affordable, sustainably-produced food.

By the way, the U.S. is the second-largest apple producer in the world (after China), and New York is the second-largest producer in the U.S. (after Washington).
