UKULELES AND TECHNOLOGY IN THE COMMUNITY GARDEN

Music in the Garden
Saturday, May 21st, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Ukuladies and Don Rodríguez Gómez Rosa will perform in the East Fourth Street Community Garden for its third annual free spring concert.

The Ukuladies is a group of relatives--fraternal twins, an aunt, and a tap-dancing cousin--who were tutored by various uncles and an occasional grandmother. They'll play cowboy love songs, Ruth Wallis medleys, favorites from the 1930s and 40s, and original hits.

Don Rodríguez Gómez Rosa is a Dominican-born and New York–raised songwriter who captures, enhances, and documents translanguaging experiences through analog and digital technologies.

His current Web-based musical, "Translanguaging Displays," is a collaboration with Sydney, Australia; Shanghai, China; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Guayama, Puerto Rico; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Prague, Czech Republic; Madrid, Spain; Florence, Italy; and Monterrey, Mexico. It will go live next month, on June 23rd.
